master bath begins

started tearing apart the master bath... removed the old vanity and toilet, tore up the old floor tile & backer board. what a mess! thought i'd cover the tub in canvas this time while tearing out the tub surround tile... it lasted all of 5 minutes when chunks of tile came falling and tore away the tape holding it in place. oh well, we're repainting the tub anyway. sunday the tub surround demo was going much more slowly than the downstairs bath. after finally getting it all off, the very last piece to be removed fell onto the exposed shower valve and broke off the hot water supply line, shooting water everywhere. i hadn't planned on doing the plumbing yet and so i didn't have the fittings to repair it, and it was after 6pm (no home depot) so we called a plumber and had him install the new shower valve. pics here

screened porch

had some contractors come over and install a screen for our back porch. we then tiled the porch with the pdeudo-slate tile used for the kitchen counters. forgot to take the before pics... got some in progress pics here
